The Princess Royal thanks her correspondent for an invitation, although remarks 'I'm only so sorry that you weren't there and I do hope you are well and truly on the mend by now', adding 'One of your offspring did think you were feeling better as he noted signs of bad temper creeping through - which could only be a good sign'. Princess Anne further states 'Richard gave me one or two useful hints about what not to say in Australia - which is always valuable!' and asks for her thanks to be passed on to him, and Simon, for the way they looked after her, and concludes by wishing her correspondent a very Happy Christmas and New Year, and a speedy recovery. Princess Anne's first tour of Australia took place in 1970 when she accompanied her parents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. More recently, in April 2022, the Princess and her husband toured Australia and Papua New Guinea to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
