CATHERINE II: (1762-1796) - CATHERINE II: (1762-1796) Empress of Russia 1762-96, Catherine the Great. D.S., Ekaterina, in Cyrillic, one page, vellum, oblong folio, Saint Petersburg, 31st December 1790, to Peter Buturlin, in Cyrillic. The partially printed attractive document signed by the `Empress and Sovereign of All Russias..´ is a title given to second Lieutenant Piotr Buturlin serving in Izmaylovsky Lifeguard regiment, appointing him to a higher rank, Quartermaster, from 1st of January, and indicating that `All loyal subjects must recognize Buturlin as Quartermaster of the Lifeguard regiment and show their respect. We do hope that he will serve in this rank as loyally and diligently as a good officer should do´. With an unidentified countersignature at the base of the document.
