DUMAS ALEXANDRE: Fils (1824-1895) French Author and Dramatist. An excellent statement in the hand of Dumas. Autograph Statement Signed, `A. Dumas, one page, 8vo, n.p., n.d., in French. Dumas states `Il faut savoir que à la nature de n´avoir pas anobli l´humanité de plus de maux que ceux qu´elle endure. Elle a fait l´homme si lâchement attaché à la vie qu´il en aurait supporté bien d´avantage´ (Translation: “It should be known that nature has not ennobled humanity with more evils than those it endures. It made Man so loosely attached to life that he could have endured much more”) With blank integral leaf. Together with a 9 x 12 antique etching of the writer and a lady by Henri Toussaint. VG, 2
