WELLS H. G.: (1866-1946) English writer, remembered for his science fiction novels. A.L.S., H. G. Wells, one page, 4to, St. James's Court, Buckingham Gate, London, n.d. ('Fridy'; 28th October 1916), to Miss. Poulain. Wells writes, in full, 'I am very sorry to have missed you today. I expected you to ring me up. The telephone number of the place is 2360 Victoria. I go down to Easton tomorrow & I shall be back in London after Thursday next.' Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by Wells and bearing the remnants of a black wax seal to the verso.
