ALLENBY EDMUND: (1861-1936) British Field Marshal of World War I. A.L.S., Allenby, one page, 8vo, Wetherby Gardens, London, 10th November 1932, to [Norman] Bentwich. Allenby informs his correspondent that he shall be out of England on the 13th & 14th December and is therefore unable to accept the kind invitation to be a guest of the Paladin Club, further remarking 'I am gratified and honoured by the invitation to become an honorary member of the Club; but my engagements are so numerous that I must gratefully decline'.
