DE LA GRANGE ANNA: (1825-1905) French Soprano and Composer. One of the most noted opera singers of the 19th century. De la Grange was a protégée of composers Rossini and Meyerbeer and premiered Violetta in the American premiere of Verdi´s La Traviata in New York in 1856. A.L.S., `Anna de la Grange´, one page, 8vo, n.p., n.d., in French. The letter bears an attractive blind embossed seal to the upper left corner of the page. De la Grange states `Je n´avais pas oublié Monsieur, le portrait que vous avez bien voulu me demander, et je serais charmée qu´il peut quelques fois me rapprocher a votre souvenir…´ (Translation: `I had not forgotten sir, the portrait that you have kindly asked me, and I will be delighted that it can sometimes bring me closer to your memory…´) G to VG
