Henri-Edmond Cross (1856-1910) French painter and printmaker, a master of Neo-Impressionism. In 1893 Cross married Irma Clare, the former wife of Hector France, whom he had first met in 1888. Cross's portrait Madame Hector France is held by the Musee d'Orsay in Paris.

Felix Feneon (1861-1944) French art critic, gallery director, writer and anarchist who coined the term Neo-Impressionism in 1886.
