An excellent and very clean L.S., `Salut - Bonaparte´, with the word `Salut´ written in his hand, both the holograph word and the signature in very bold ink, one page, 4to, Namur, 3rd August 1803, to Consul Jean-Jacques Régis de Cambacéres, in French. The letter bears an attractive Republican vignette to the heading, stating `Au nom du Peuple Français - Bonaparte Consul de la République''. The letter dictated by Napoleon is in the hand of Meneval. Napoleon explains to his correspondent his route plans changes and when which way he intends to return to Paris, stating `J´ai reçu, Citoyen Consul, vos lettres des 12 & 13 Thermidor. Je suis arrivé ce matin à Namur. Je n´irai ni à Mons, ni à Rheims. Je me dirigerai sur Givet, Mizieres, Sedan, Lain, et de là à Paris´ (Translation: ''I have received, Citizen Consul, your letters dated 12th and 13th Thermidor. I arrived this morning at Namur. I will not go to Mons, nor to Reims.
