LAM WIFREDO: (1902-1982) Cuban artist. A.L.S., Wifredo, one page, 8vo, Paris, 14th October 1952, to a friend, on the attractive printed stationery of the Compagnie Generale Transatlantique ocean liner S.S. Ile de France, in French. Lam writes, in full, ‘Je m'excuse de n'avoir pas passe par Bruxelles a mon retour. Je suis de nouveau a Paris. Je pense te voir si tu viens a Paris. Mais de toute facon je pense te revoir bientot car je dois retourner a Bruxelles. Je t'ecrirai pour te prevenir’ (Translation: ‘I apologise for not passing through Brussels on my return. I am in Paris again. I think I’ll see you if you come to Paris. But in any case, I hope to see you again soon because I have to return to Brussels. I will write to you to let you know’).
