NADAR: (1820-1910) - NADAR: (1820-1910) Gaspard-Felix Tournachon. French photographer, caricaturist and balloonist, the first person to take aerial photographs (1858). A.L.S., Nadar , one page, 8vo, Thorenc-Station, 17th August 1901, to a gentleman, in French. Nadar asks if his correspondent could forward a letter from one of his friends, Mr. Perie, to a Mr. Berenger, whom he adds he holds in high regard. Nadar also remarks that he has just read a good article by Mikhael Suni (?) on a subject which is close to his heart, and further writes 'E de Girardin - avec lequel j'etais pourtant au plus mal - ouvrit a deux battants sa ”Presse” a notre manifeste de l'autolocomotion aerienne lorsque nous eumes en 1863 l'honneur de creer l'agitation premiere pour l'aviation c.a.d. l'aeronavigation par les appareils exclusivement plus lourds que l'air' (Translation: 'E de Girardin - with whom I was nevertheless at the worst - opened his ”Press” with two doors to our manifesto of air transport when in 1863 we had the honor of creating the first agitation for aviation i.e. aeronavigation by devices exclusively heavier than air' ).
