One A.L.S., `M. Ch¨.´, and one A.L., both autograph letters are written by Bella Rosenfeld Chagall, on behalf of her husband Marc Chagall, two pages each, folio and large 8vo respectively, both from Paris, Avenue Sycomores, Villa Montmorency, November 1933, to Andre de Ridder, in French. To the first, Chagall states in part `We are back from Bale. Your article has pleased a lot and the ''Democrate'' journal edition has been joined to the catalogue.. It is a pity that the exhibition will not be taken anywhere else. We cannot keep on disturbing the collectors. It is always the same story. There´s nothing we can do. I would like to know your own opinion and the one of few friends. I do not have many. There are no museums in Paris where the exhibition could be presented, with the exception of Jeu de Paume. But try to make react all those bureaucrats..´ To the second Chagall states `..I am not looking for anything except for showing this exhibition to the after war generation who do not know me ´ Chagall concludes with a post-scriptum stating `They tell me from Bale that the exhibition is very much visited and is very successful, even more than the Maillol one of Braque.´ With small remnant of former paper affixing to the upper left edge.
