An unusually early vintage signed and inscribed Christmas greetings card by King Charles III, when Prince of Wales, the 8vo folding card featuring an image to the inside of the young Prince standing outdoors in a half-length pose wearing flying overalls and holding a helmet and gloves under one arm, dating from the time of his Royal Air Force training with the Cambridge University Air Squadron. Signed and inscribed by the Prince in blue fountain pen ink above and below a printed greeting, ´To Gillan & Mrs. Gillan......from Charles´ , 1969. With the gold printed heraldic badge of the Prince of Wales´s feathers to the front cover. Some very light staining and minor age wear, not affecting the signature, otherwise about VG Although created Prince of Wales in July 1958, it would not be until July 1969 that the investiture of Charles took place, under some controversy, in a televised ceremony held at Caernarfon Castle, when he was crowned by his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
