The document is in the form of a receipt and states, in part, ´J'ai reçu de Monsieur Weyl la somme de huit cents francs pour......petit tableau rep [resentan] t St Sébastien´ (Translation: ´I have received from Monsieur Weyl the sum of eight hundred francs for......a small painting of Saint Sebastian´ ). With blank integral leaf. Some minor age wear, a few light creases and some minor stains to the edges, otherwise about VG Saint Sebastian appears in a number of works by Delacroix, which include Saint Sebastian tended by the Holy Women (1836), currently on loan at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
