MAIN MARJORIE: (1890-1975) - MAIN MARJORIE: (1890-1975) American character actress, an Academy Award nominee for Best Supporting Actress in 1947 for her performance as Phoebe ´Ma´ Kettle (one of her most famous recurring roles) in The Egg and I , a romantic comedy film which influenced the Ma and Pa Kettle series of movies. A rare vintage signed and inscribed sepia 8 x 10 photograph, the original Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer publicity portrait dating from 1942 and depicting the actress in a happy head and shoulders pose. Signed by Main in turquoise fountain pen ink to a light area at the head of the image. A few very minor, light surface and corner creases, otherwise VG
