DASSIN JOE: (1938-1980) - DASSIN JOE: (1938-1980) American–French Singer-Songwriter. Dassin sold nearly 25 million records worldwide. Best remembered for his songs ” Les Champs-Élysées ” (1969), ”Salut les Amoureux” (1973), ” L´Été Indien” (1975) and ”Et si ti n´existais pas” (1975). He was the son of film director Jules Dassin. Dassin died from a heart attack at the early age of 41 when he was eating at a restaurant in Papeete, the only ambulance on the island was unavailable at the time.
