PIUS X: (1835-1914) - PIUS X: (1835-1914) Pope of the Catholic Church 1903-14. Apostolic Blessing Signed, Pius PP X , one page (vellum), oblong folio (approximately 48 x 32.5 cm), Vatican City, 16th October 1908, in Italian. The document features an attractive illuminated calligraphic text addressed to the Pope by the Mother Superior and Ursuline Sisters of the Collegio Dame Orsoline in Milan, dated 11th October 1908, offering their tenuous pledge of filial devotion on the occasion of the anniversary of the apparition of the Immaculate Conception in Lourdes, and further making an appeal for an Apostolic Blessing for themselves and the young people of the Oratory and their families. Immediately beneath the text the Pope has penned his Apostolic Blessing, ´ Alle dilette figlie in Gesu Cristo col voto ne il signore largamente le ricompensi per tutte le loro opere di carita e di religione insegno di gratitudine e di particulare benevolenza impartionno l´apostolica benedizione essendendola alle figlie di maria, alle donne, e alle giovani dell´oratorio e a tutte le famiglie´ (Translation: ´ To our beloved daughters in Jesus Christ, may the Lord reward you abundantly for all your works of charity and religion. I impart the apostolic blessing with gratitude and special benevolence to the daughters of Mary, to the women and young girls of the oratory and to all the families´ ). To the left of the text appears an oval photograph of the Pope seated in a full-length pose wearing his ecclesiastical robes (the surface of the image with some heavy cracks). Two borders of the document also feature an attractive decoration incorporating a coat of arms. Some overall staining and age wear, a few small tears to the edges, and with heavy traces of former mounting to the verso. About G
