MAHEU ROBERT: (1917-2008) - MAHEU ROBERT: (1917-2008) American investigator and lawyer, a close confidant of Howard Hughes for many years. Maheu was also engaged in work for the FBI and CIA, becoming involved in a plot to assassinate Fidel Castro. Signed and inscribed colour 10 x 8 photograph of Maheu seated in a half-length pose behind his desk, upon which appear several copies of his autobiography Next to Hughes . Signed by Maheu in gold ink to the image and dated 4th April 2004 in his hand. Together with an A.L.S., Robert A. Maheu , one page, 4to, Las Vegas, Nevada, 4th April 2004, to Alain Raboud. Maheu apologises for the delay in replying, explaining that his correspondent´s letter was ´accidentally placed in the wrong file´ and that ´It came to my attention only a few days ago´ , and further referring to the signed photograph.
