Chagall asks for Mac Orlan´s text to be sent as soon as possible, continuing ´Le travail est arrete, ca me gene enormement. Je dois vous prevenir que c´est presque pas possible que je ferai toutes les gravures jusqu´a le 15 janvier. Il m´est faut encore trouver des idees et l´imprimeur de sa part retient aussi pas mal de jours pour les faire imprimer. Je ne puis pas travailler en hate. Je vous prie encore de me faire envoyer s´il v [ous] pl [ait] les photos, plutot possible, de tous les auteurs, n´importe lesquels, qu´ils auront un peu de ressemblance, et c´est tout´ (Translation: ´The work has stopped, and that bothers me enormously. A couple of light creases, one small, neat split to the edge of the central right fold, and a couple of paperclip rust stains, only very slightly affecting a few words of text, and not the signature. About VG Pierre Mac Orlan (1882-1970) French novelist and songwriter. The present letter most likely refers to Les Sept Peches Capitaux which was published in 1926 and featured contributions by Pierre Mac Orlan, Jean Giradoux and other writers. The book, printed in a limited edition of 300 copies, also featured a series of etchings by Chagall.
