WORDSWORTH WILLIAM: (1770-1850) - WORDSWORTH WILLIAM: (1770-1850) English Romantic poet who served as Poet Laureate 1843-50. L.S., Wm. Wordsworth , one page, 8vo, Rydal Mount, 9th September 1840, to a gentleman. Wordsworth responds to his correspondent´s application ´for payment of a small debt´ relating to the estate of Henry Harrison and explains that ´the money was sent to a friend in London to discharge it on the 26 of Feb [ruar] y. last´ and adding that ´I am at a loss to account, under these circumstances, for its remaining on the Bankrupt´s books´ . Wordsworth concludes by remarking ´I will howevetr lose no time in making inquiry of the f [r] i [en] d to whom the money was paid over, who will no doubt attend to the matter´ . Accompanied by a fine carte-de-visite photograph by Bowness of Ambleside, the sepia albumen print showing Wordsworth´s home, Rydal Mount, in the Lake District.
