EISENHOWER DWIGHT D.: (1890-1969) - EISENHOWER DWIGHT D.: (1890-1969) American General of World War II, who later served as President of the United States 1953-61. T.L.S., with his initials D.E. , as President, one page, 8vo, Washington, 13th June 1959, to Mr. F. Peavey Heffelfinger, on the printed stationery of The White House. Eisenhower states that he is grateful to his correspondent for their note about Foster Dulles, remarking ´I, too, felt a deep gratification at the outpouring of affection and admiration for this truly great man´ . A couple of light, minor stains, otherwise VG John Foster Dulles (1888-1959) American politician, lawyer, and diplomat who served as United States Secretary of State under Eisenhower from 1953-59. In declining health, Dulles had resigned from office on 15th April 1959 and died just over a month later, on 24th May.
