Britten thanks his correspondent for their letter and invitation to give a lecture to the Royal Musical Association, and remarks ´I am afraid I have to refuse this since I have not found a way yet to add lecturing to my innumerable musical activities! I am sorry to have to disappoint you´ . With a slight paperclip rust stain to the upper and lower edges, otherwise VG Gerald Abraham (1904-1988) English musicologist, editor and music critic, particularly respected as an authority on Russian music. Abraham served in numerous positions, in both official and ceremonial statuses, including being president of the Royal Musical Association, 1970-74.
