BERNARD TRISTAN: (1866-1947) (+1) - BERNARD TRISTAN: (1866-1947) French playwright, novelist and journalist who eputedly introduced the bell to signify the last lap of a race. A.L.S., Tristan Bernard , to the recto of a printed correspondence card from the Hotel du Golf, Deauville, 14th August 1938, to Dr. Jean Mans, in French. Bernard thanks his correspondent for their letter, which had confirmed the impression he had, and continues to remark ´J´écrirai de temps en temps à cette pauvre femme, trop heureux si je peux lui procure ainsi un peu de soulagement´ (Translation: ´I will write to this poor woman from time to time, and I will be very happy if I can bring her some relief in this way´ ). Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by Bernard. Together with Jean-Louis Bory (1919-1979) French writer, journalist and film critic. Vintage signed and inscribed 2.5 x 3.5 photograph of Bory in a close-up head and shoulders pose.
