SAINT-SAENS CAMILLE: (1835-1921) - SAINT-SAENS CAMILLE: (1835-1921) French composer and organist of the Romantic period. Fountain pen ink signature ( ´C. Saint-Saens´ ) on a small 4to page removed from an autograph album, with an amusing sentiment in his hand above his signature, in French, ´les plus agé des pianistes´ (Translation: ´the most senior of the pianists´ ). The composer has added the date, 1920, in his hand, and to further reinforce his age, also provided his date of birth, ´né le 9 octobre 1835´ . A charming example. VG Saint-Saens died, aged 86, on 16th December 1921.
