CHAMINADE CECILE: (1857-1944) - CHAMINADE CECILE: (1857-1944) French Composer and Pianist. A good and attractive A.M.Q.S., ` C. Chaminade´ , to the front of a 5.5 x 3.5 postcard, dated at the base in Chaminade´s hand November 1909. Chaminade has boldly penned in bold purple fountain pen ink a musical quote of five bars, untitled, adding above the tempo `Largo´. Beneath the musical quote, Chaminade cleanly annotates the lyrics ` La vague vient sans cesse apporter au ri-va-ge´ (” The wave constantly comes to the shore ”). Addressed-inscribed to the verso by Chaminade. The front cover image shows a wave and the shore of the Cote d´Argent (”Silver Coast”) name given to part of the Atlantic coast of the Aquitaine region in France, VG The lyrics of Chaminade´s musical quote correspond to the first verse of a poem by Edouard Guinand (1838-1909) who passed away two months before Chaminade wrote the present musical quote. Other poems by Guinand were also used by different composers such as Debussy. Chaminade wrote ” Sur la Plage” (1892) a work for contralto and piano, based in Guinand´s poem.
