A cleanly wriiten musical letter, Strauss starts saying ` Ich habe so sehr bedauern, sie hier verfehlt zu haben. Sie haben ihr Versprechen nicht gehalten, sich bei mir einfach zu Tische anzusagen...´ (Translation: ” I am so sorry to have missed you here. You didn't keep your promise to simply come and sit at my table...”) Further, Strauss lists a detailed cast list of orchestra instruments he needs for a performance, stating ` 1- Piccolo; 3-Grosse Floten; 3 Hoboen; 1-English Horn; 1-D.Clarinette (auch in Es-Clarinette eventuell umzuschreiben)... 3-Fagotte; 1-Contrafagot... 3--Trompeten... Harfen...Triangle... Grosse Tromel, Kleine Tromel... eine Kinderratsche...´ (Translation: ” 1 small flute; 3 flutes; 3 oboes; 1 English horn; 1 D clarinet (possibly also rewritten as E-flat clarinet)... 3 bassoons; 1 contrabassoon... 3 trumpets... harps... triangle... large drum, small drum... a children's ratchet... ”) Two binder holes to the left border, not affecting the text or signature.
