KODÁLY ZOLTÁN: (1882-1967) - KODÁLY ZOLTÁN: (1882-1967) Hungarian composer. T.L.S., Kodály Z , one page, 4to, n.p., 26th September 1965, to Dr. Abraham. Kodály states that he has just completed a long trip and has felt compelled to pose some questions to his correspondent, ´On the 9th of October the Hungarian singer Miss Klio Kemény has a long recital in the Wigmore Hall. Her manager wrote her, that afterwards she will have occasion to sing for a BBC hearing, which will ”possibly” be recorded. Could you be present at this audition? to help the jury that this ”possibility” may become ”reality”. Another thing: the piano-accompanist Mrs. Melinda Kistétényi is an excellent organist. I would be very glad if she could find opportunity to play at BBC or elsewhere. She is also a fine improviser´ . The composer concludes by reminiscing of ´our stay at your idyllic home enjoying the kind hospitality of your charming wife´ . Some very light, extremely minor creasing to the upper and lower edges and with one slight paperclip rust stain, otherwise VG Klio Kemény (1929-2000) Romanian-Hungarian opera singer. Melinda Kistétényi (1926-1999) Hungarian classical organist, composer and chorus master known for her improvisations. A professor of music theory at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, in her teaching she was one of the most prominent Hungarian followers of the Kodály method and wrote poetic texts to Kodály´s Epigrammák and Tricinia series.
