Verdi regrets that his correspondent and his family will not spend the new year´s festivity with him but understands the reasons, being the need of taking care of their beloved Peppina, stating in part ` Stà bene ed approvo quanto hai fatto intorno agli affari miei... Siamo entrambi dispiacenti per la vostra mancanza nel primo del 86; ma approviamo completamente i riguardi che prodigate a Peppina. Speriamo ora nella metà di febbraio!´ (Translation: ” It is fine now , and I approve of what you've done regarding my affairs...
