BERKELEY LENNOX: (1903-1989) - BERKELEY LENNOX: (1903-1989) English composer. T.L.S., Lennox Berkeley , two pages, 8vo, Warwick Avenue, London, 13th January 1959, to ´My dear Abraham´ . Berkeley apologises for not having answered his correspondent´s letter sooner as he had been contemplating whether he could manage an article himself, explaining ´The trouble is that I always find it impossibly difficult to write about my own music, and I have come reluctantly to the conclusion that it would really be better if someone else could do it. An additional reason is that I am rather hard pressed with other work, and it is difficult to find the time´ , further suggesting other individuals who may take on the task, ´I wonder whether you might perhaps ask Winton, who has, I think, heard most of my things. Another possibility would be Martin Cooper......It is a pity about Colin Mason because he wrote the Grove article, I believe, and would probably have been able to do it more easily´ and concluding by writing ´I have a full score available which I could send at once to whoever agreed to take it on if you - or they - would let me know´ . One ink annotation and a very light, minor paperclip rust stain to the upper edge of the first page, VG
