BLIN ROGER: (1907-1984) - BLIN ROGER: (1907-1984) French actor and director who staged the world premieres of Samuel Beckett´s Waiting for Godot in 1953 and Endgame in 1957. A.L.S., Roger Blin , two pages, 4to, Paris, 7th September (1959), to Georges Adet de Roseville, in French. Blin thanks his correspondent for their kind letter ´qui augumente mon remords de ne pas t´avoir donné signe de vie, quoi que j´etais au courant de ton retour en forme´ (Translation: ´which increases my remorse for not having been in touch, even though I knew you were feeling better´ ), adding that it will be a long road to recovery and encouraing his friend to be careful, ´Il y aura encore de belles choses à faire´ (Translation: ´There are still great things to do´ ). Blin further writes of his own current activities, ´Je répete en effet les ”negres”, mais il n´ont pas tous ton metier et ton talent et il faut aussi faire la petite classe....Vacances de travail à Venise et en Haute-Savoie, puis quelques jours magnafiques à Belle-Ile´ (Translation: ´I'm still working with the ‘negroes, ’ but not all of them have your skill and talent, and I have to teach the beginners too.....Working holidays in Venice and Haute-Savoie, then a few magnificent days in Belle-Ile´ ), forwards his wife´s warmest regards, who ´me charge de te dire que quand tu seras sur pied, elle fera tout ce qu´elle pourra pour te faire distribuer à la radio´ (Translation: ´asked me to tell you that when you're back on your feet, she'll do everything she can to get you on the radio´ ) and concludes his letter with a reference to Samuel Beckett, ´Pas revu Beckett - peut-être envisagerai-je une réponse de ”Fin de Partie”, mais pas sans mon Nagg unique´ (Translation: ´Haven't seen Beckett again - maybe I'll consider a response to ‘Endgame’, but not without my one and only Nagg´ ). Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by Blin and signed ( ´Blin´ ) by him in the return address panel to the verso. A letter of good content and association. VG Samuel Beckett´s Endgame premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in London on 3rd April 1957, and was performed in French. Blin directed the production, and also played the role of Hamm, while Georges Adet de Roseville played Nagg, Hamm´s father who has no legs and lives in a dustbin.
