Cahn´s letter is headed THE MORNING AFTER! and the musician writes and enthusiastic letter of praise, in full, ´I just wanted to let you know how very proud you made all your colleagues. It was as clear cut a victory for talent as was ever made by talent! I think you have both struck a mighty blow for the art of music in pictures. We will all benefit from your victory! Again Congratulations and again the best of everything! Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!´ . Two letters of good association. Oscar Hammerstein II (1895-1960) American lyricist and librettist, famous for his collaboration with Richard Rodgers on various Broadway musicals of the 1940s and 1950s. Flower Drum Song , the eighth musical created by Rodgers and Hammerstein, had premiered on Broadway at the St. James Theatre on 1st December 1958. Frederick Loewe (1901-1988) Austrian-American composer, famous for his collaborations with lyricist Alan Jay Lerner on various Broadway musicals. Cahn´s letter may date from 1964 when the film version of Lerner and Loewe´s musical My Fair Lady , a critical and commercial success, won eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
