Cahn writes an enthusiastic letter of praise, commencing ´I just had to take the time to let you know that last night (again) I saw MY FAIR LADY and with a capacity audience was again reminded of your monumental achievement´ further writing ´I know praise at this late date must seem very superfluous but I did want to add mine, however insignificant to all the rest! BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO!´ , and concluding ´Van Heusen joins me in the above and in the most affectionate regards!´ . A letter of good content and association. EX Alan Jay Lerner (1918-1986) American lyricist and librettist associated with musical theatre, Academy Award winner. The 1956 Broadway production of My Fair Lady , with lyrics by Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe, was a notable critical and popular success, winning a number of awards. It set a record for the longest run of any musical on Broadway up to that time and was followed by a hit London production, both starring Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews. In 1964 the film version of My Fair Lady won the Academy Award for Best Picture. Jimmy Van Heusen (1913-1990) American composer and Academy Award winner, a frequent collaborator with Cahn.
