HOLMES PHILLIPS: (1907-1942) - HOLMES PHILLIPS: (1907-1942) American actor who portrayed Roger Longmore in The Return of Sherlock Holmes (1929). A rare vintage signed postcard photograph of Holmes in a close-up head and shoulders pose. Issued by Picturegoer (No. 487). Signed by the actor in fountain pen ink with his name alone to the base of the image. Autographs of Holmes are rare in any form as a result of his death in a mid-air collision at the age of 35 whilst serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. About EX
