A good vintage signed cabinet photograph (approximately 10 x 21 cm), the sepia albumen print by Wilhelm Hoffert of Berlin depicting Wagner seated in a three-quarter length pose. Signed in bold, dark fountain pen ink to a light area at the head of the image, further adding a brief quotation in his hand at the base of the image, ´Seeleut! Seeleut! Antwortet doch!´, taken from Act III of the libretto to Richard Wagner´s opera Der fliegende Holländer ( ´The Flying Dutchman´ ). With the photographer´s imprint to the lower mount and verso. Some light age wear, one small pinhole to the upper edge, and with some traces of former mounting to the verso, G
