Lesseps reports to his wife on his arrival to Paris with the children and on the starting of the school and other friends and family matters, stating in part ` Bien chère Hélène, Le voyage s´est très bien passé. Les enfants ont dormi pendant le trajet jusqu´à Paris, et ce matin ils ont fait leur rentrée au lycée avec entrain et bonne humeur... le petit Jacques m’a vu mettre ma tête à la portière, il a fait une figure et un cri de désespoir qui m’ont vraiment ému. La maison est très propre et Maurice a très bien fait son service, la cour j´ai dire est charmante et l’emplacement des grands arbres, d’un seul côté, est déjà préparée.
