RENAULT LOUIS: (1877-1944) - RENAULT LOUIS: (1877-1944) French Industrialist. A pioneer of the automobile industry and founder of Renault. Rare letter addressed to Henry Ford. T.L.S., ` Louis Renault ´, one page, 8vo, Billancourt, 27th August 1920, on the ”Automobiles Renault - Louis Renault. Constr.” printed stationery, to Henry Ford, in French. Renault sends a letter to the American founder of the Ford Motor Company, referring to the previous two kind meetings they shared in the past, stating ` Me souvenant du si bon accueil que vous m´avez réservé, il y a déjà bien longtemps, lorsque je suis passé à vos usines, et de l´amabilité que vous avez eue de venir me voir, lors d´un de vos voyages à Paris...´ (Translation: ” Remembering the warm welcome you gave me, a long time ago, when I visited your factories, and the kindness you had in coming to see me during one of your trips to Paris...”) further asking a favour to Ford, saying ` ...je me permets de venir vous demander de vouloir bien autoriser mon neveu, M. Henri LEFEVRE PONTALIS, qui fait un petit voyage en Amérique, à visiter vos usines. Je crois qu´il ne peut rien faire de plus intéressant et de plus instructif que la visite de vos usines...´ (Translation: ”... I would like to ask you to allow my nephew, Mr. Henri LEFEVRE PONTALIS, who is making a short trip to America, to visit your factories. I believe that he cannot do anything more interesting and instructive than visiting your factories...”) Further again and before concluding, Renault expresses his wish to meet again his correspondent, stating ` J´espère que si vous venez à Paris, vous me ferez l´amitié de me signaler votre passage, car je serais heureux de vous revoir...´ (Translation: ” I hope that if you come to Paris, you will do me the kindness of letting me know you are passing by, because I would be happy to see you again...”) With blank integral leaf. Accompanied by the original envelope addressed to ”Monsieur FORD, at DETROIT, U.S.A”. VG
