CHRISTIE ETHEL: (1898-1952) - CHRISTIE ETHEL: (1898-1952) English wife of murderer John Reginald Halliday Christie, herself one of his victims who was later discovered strangled under the floorboards of their house at 10 Rillington Place. An extremely rare A.L.S., Ethel , two pages (separate leaves), 8vo, 10 Rillington Place, St. Marks Road, London, 30th August, 1st & 3rd September 1945, to her sister, Lily Bartle. Christie´s letter is composed over several days, beginning by informing her sister that Eddy has not arrived in London yet, remarking ´I suppose he started from Germany on the 26th August. Anyhow, I have been watching out for him....´ , reporting on 1st September that he still hasn´t shown up and asking ´Have you heard again from him?´, and, on 3rd September, writing ´I have just received your parcel (thought the knock was Eddy´s) for which I am very thankful & so was Reg as ”Woodbines” are difficult to get, & now I am waiting for Eddy to come´ .
