DREYFUS ALFRED: (1859-1935) - DREYFUS ALFRED: (1859-1935) French artillery officer of Jewish ancestry whose trial and conviction in 1894 on charges of treason became one of the most polarising political dramas in modern French history. Known as the Dreyfus Affair, it ultimately ended with Dreyfus’s complete exoneration. A good vintage signed postcard photograph of Dreyfus in a head and shoulders pose wearing his uniform and medals and a pair of pinz-nez glasses. Signed ( ´A. Dreyfus´ ) in black ink with his name alone to the lower white border. Matted in black and framed and glazed in a modern frame to an overall size of 6 x 8. Together with an unsigned small 8vo hardback edition of a collection of articles and speeches, printed in Hebrew, by Theodor Herzl, providing his reflections of the Dreyfus Affair and its impact on his Zionist ideas. Also including a reproduction of an image of Herzl by artist Hermann Struck contained in a 4to printed presentation folder. G to VG, 3
