CRISP QUENTIN: (1908-1999) - CRISP QUENTIN: (1908-1999) English raconteur and gay icon, famous for his autobiography The Naked Civil Servant (1968). A.L.S., Quentin Crisp , one page, 4to, New York, n.d. (26th July 1999), to Geoffrey Kandall, on Crisp´s personal printed stationery. Crisp thanks his correspondent for their kind letter and remarks ´I only think we have grown more tolerant of other people´s excentricities (sic) because we have ceased to care about anything - except getting something cheaper than usual´ , further adding ´It is not, in my opinion, a good thing´ , before subscribing himself ´Yours morbidly´ .
