COUSTEAU JACQUES: (1910-1997) - COUSTEAU JACQUES: (1910-1997) French oceanographer, filmmaker and author who co-invented the first successful open-circuit self-contained underwater breathing apparatus (SCUBA), called the Aqua-Lung, which assisted him in producing some of the first underwater documentaries. Signed and inscribed colour 6 x 4 postcard photograph, the image depicting the RV Calypso in the Bay of Virgins (Hana Vave, French Polynesia). Signed by Cousteau in black ink to the verso. A couple of very small, minor water stains affect part of the signature, and a black ink annotation in an unidentified hand appears to the upper right corner. About EX
