Meyerbeer refers to his correspondent as ` Mon illustre Tenor´ (“My illustrious Tenor”), and tries to confirm an important dinner date with him, stating in part ` Veuillez ne pas oublier que vous m´avez promis de diner avec moi & quelques uns de vos admirateurs, demain Rue neuve St. Augustin nº 49…´ (Translation: “ Would you please not forget that you promised to me to have dinner tomorrow together with several of your admirers, Street neuve St. Augustin nº 49…”) With address leaf. Small overall age wear and very small staining, otherwise G Gilbert-Louis Duprez (1806-1896) French Tenor. Duprez created the role of Edgardo in the Donizetti´s opera Lucia di Lammermoor (1835). Duprez pioneered the delivery of the operatic High C from the chest (the “ut” or “do” from the chest or “de poitrine”)
