The singer writes following a misunderstanding, ´Forgive me that I was so stupid today at the telephone: unfortunately I could not read your signature in your letter and had no idea who so kindly invited me!!! I am terribly sorry that I cannot come and hope very much for another time´ , and concludes by sending her kindest regards to her correspondent and Lord Harewood. Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by Lehmann. Together with Florent Schmitt (1870-1958) French composer. A brief A.L.S., Florent Schmitt , to one side of a small oblong 12mo card, n.p., 17 th May 1956, to Monsieur Decerf, in French. Schmitt explains that he is meeting the Countess of Harewood and her husband, the administrator of Covent Garden, at the French Embassy. Also including Jean-Louis Barrault (1910-1994) French actor.
