NANTEUIL CÉLESTIN: (1813-1873) - NANTEUIL CÉLESTIN: (1813-1873) French painter, engraver and illustrator associated with the Romantic movement. A very fine original sanguine (red chalk) drawing signed and inscribed by Nanteuil, one page, 4to, n.p., 1873. Nanteuil´s Romantic-era figurative drawing is entitled La Marchand de Plaisir, and depicts a partially clothed young lady carrying two baskets as she offers her wares, signed and inscribed by the artist to the lower right, ´A son cher Nadar, Celestin Nanteuil´ and dated 1873 in his hand. Some very light, minor age wear and a few very slight traces of former mounting to the corners of the verso, otherwise VG Provenance: The present drawing originates from the personal Album Amicorum of Nadar (1820-1910) Gaspard-Felix Tournachon. French photographer, caricaturist and balloonist, the first person to take aerial photographs (1858).
