DETAILLE EDOUARD: (1848-1912) - DETAILLE EDOUARD: (1848-1912) French painter and military artist. A very fine original pen and ink drawing signed by Detaille to the centre of a large oblong folio page removed from an album, the detailed study depicting a French cavalryman, wearing his uniform and kepi, on horseback. Signed and inscribed at the base, ´A Nadar!!, Edouard Detaille´ , and dated 20th November 1876 in his hand. Also bearing the signature of François Prosper Jacqmin (1820-1889; French civil and railway engineer who played a significant role in the expansion and study of European rail networks) to the upper left corner, dated 26th January 1874. Some very light, minor age wear and with one small, neat tear to the upper left edge, otherwise VG Provenance: The present drawing originates from the personal Album Amicorum of Nadar (1820-1910) Gaspard-Felix Tournachon. French photographer, caricaturist and balloonist, the first person to take aerial photographs (1858).
