MONET CLAUDE: (1840-1926) - MONET CLAUDE: (1840-1926) French Impressionist painter. A.L.S., Claude Monet , one page, 8vo, Giverny par Vernon, Eure, 31st March 1890, to [Rodolphe] Darzens, in French. Monet writes in his characteristic purple ink in regards to his one-year subscription to La Revue d´aujourd´hui and asks ´Quand dois-je vous en adresser le montant ou bien le ferez vous toucher par la poste?´ (Translation: ´When should I send you the payment, or would you prefer to receive it by post?´ ). With blank integral leaf (featuring the red chop of a Chinese collector). Two lengthy, neat splits to the upper and lower edges of the central vertical fold in the bifolium, otherwise VG The French literary and art journal La Revue d´aujourd´hui was founded by the Russian immigrant and poet Tola Dorian (1841–1918), with Rodolphe Darzens (1865-1938) serving as editor-in-chief. It was a short-lived publication, with issues appearing between January and September 1890, featuring content that defined the era, including literary efforts, art criticism, and ´faits divers´. La Revue d´aujourd´hui also provided coverage of the Impressionist and Independent art scenes, with contributors including Monet´s friend, Gustave Geffroy, reporting on the Salon des Indépendants.
