BERENSON BERNARD: (1865-1959) - BERENSON BERNARD: (1865-1959) American art Historian. His book The Drawings of the Florentine Painters was an international success. Berenson was a major figure in the attribution of Old Masters, at a time when these were attracting new interest by American collectors, and his judgments were widely respected in the art world. Berenson states ` I find the plans & elevations of your palace of delight & these plans & elevations are themselves beautiful exquisite works of art. I cannot thank you enough for them. I can promise that they will be treasured in this library for as many generations as our country is able to protect the constitutions of its citizens. I am leaving my entire estate to Harvard.
