NAPOLEON I: (1769-1821) - NAPOLEON I: (1769-1821) Emperor of France 1804-14, 1815. A fine and clean L.S., ` Np ´, one page, gilt edges, 4to, Paris, 16th January 1812, to the Duc de Feltre, in French. The present letter is dated on 16th August 1812, but bears a handwritten contemporary correction indicating that the date was 16th January 1812. Napoleon is preparing his Russian military campaign and states ` Monsieur le Duc de Feltre, quel est ce général Duverger que vous mettez sous les ordres du Général Bourcier? Si c´est un général que j´ai vu ici à Paris, ce n´est pas un bon choix...´ (Translation: ” Monsieur Duke of Feltre, who is this General Duverger whom you are placing under the command of General Bourcier? If he is a general I saw here in Paris, he is not a good choice...”) Very small minor tear and creasing to the upper ñleft corner, otherwise G to VG Alexis Jean Henri Duverger (1755-1830) French General. Duverger was close to Pichegru and participated in the Brumaire events but for an unknown reason Napoleon never upgraded him and even refused to grand him the ten thousand francs that General Clarck claimed for Duverger. Duverger fought at Magdebourg. François Antoine Louis Bourcier (1760-1828) French General who participated in the Russian campaign alongside Napoleon.
