Imperial Russian Book Cover
An antique Russian book cover, made of ebony. Bearing silver applications with the Arms of the Czar Alexander II and the years 1855 and 1880. This lot was apparently a gift to the Czar on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his reign. It is likely that the portfolio belongs to the group of objects from the Imperial collection sold by the Soviet Government in the late 1920s. Dimensions: 32X22 cm. Purchased in 1991 at the William Doyle Galleries auction (June 5th, item n. 595).
