Victorian Silver Pomander Spice Container - Victorian sterling silver Pomander (Spice Container), England, Birmingham, 1864. Shaped as a fruit, opening into six segments. Interior made of gold plated silver. The outer surfaces are engraved with floral patterns and set with turquoise stones. Height: 8 cm. Weight: 51 grams. Hallmarked. These items were often used as a spice containers (for Besamim) in the Jewish ceremony of Havdalah.
