Jewish Charity Boxes, Hungary - Lot two Jewish charity boxes, Hungary, early 20th century. Includes: a ”Gemilat Chesed” box topped with a brass plaque with a painting of the Orthodox Jewish Hospital on Városmajor Street, which was burned down with its occupants and destroyed by the Nazis during the holocaust. Above the painting is the inscription ”Bpesti orth. Chevra” and ”Gemilat Chesed”; Under the drawing is the inscription: ”Adakozzunk jótékony intézményünkre” [Help us donate to our charities]. The second is ”Matan Besseter” made of tin with plaque attached to the lid, ”helping families and patients”. Height: 13-17.5 cm. Good overall condition. Minor flaws.
