Rachel Unger, acrylic on canvas, 50 by 50 cm, signed - Rachel Unger was born in Jerusalem. She studied literature and linguistics. In 1981, Rachel began her art studies at the Avni institute in Tel-Aviv, where she studies painting, sketching and sculpture.   She later studies Modern Art at Tel- Aviv University. Originally, Rachel works were figurative, with expressionistic brush stokers, a style that was predominant in the 1980s. Gradually, her work became more abstract, using everchanging styles and techniques, Among them Automatic Painting in the Dada style. Generally, Rachel chooses subjects that She wishes to capture, study and create on the canvas. ”Negev”, ”Constructions, ”Tel-Aviv of the 20s” and ”Expressionism in the Abstract” are but a few of the subjects that still fascinate and occupy her. Rachel's main inspiration is landscape. She studies landscape depth and then translates into spaces, colors and composition. Her works is not merely faithful renditions of the subject, but more an expression of the feelings and emotions which she experiences from them.
